Kaitlyn & Darren's Wedding at The Nonantum Resort | Kennebunkport, Maine
Autumn on the Maine coast moves at its own pace. The harbor light turns gold, the air carries salt and woodsmoke, and everything slows down just enough to let the important things land. Kaitlyn and Darren's wedding at The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport was exactly that — a day shaped by the sea, by the people around them, and by the kind of details that showed how well they know each other.
The Morning Before
The day started at the resort with both of them getting ready in separate rooms. The excitement had that calm, steady quality — no nerves, just anticipation. Before seeing each other, they exchanged gifts. Darren opened a handcrafted chef's knife. Kaitlyn received a SeaBag tote customized with their wedding date. Two gifts that said everything about who they are.
By the Water, Before the World Watched
Before the ceremony, Kaitlyn met her father on the dock for a first look. The harbor was still and quiet — the kind of moment that belongs entirely to the two people in it.
A short walk away, at the small beach below the resort's lighthouse, Kaitlyn and Darren had their own. The tide was low, the light soft, the ocean breeze gentle. They read their vows to each other privately, surrounded by water and open sky, before walking into the afternoon together.
Guests gathered outside as the ceremony began beside the lighthouse — one of the most recognizable settings on the Kennebunkport waterfront. The sound of waves rolled underneath the vows, and when they exchanged rings, the harbor behind them caught the afternoon light.
Rocky Shores and Good Company
After the ceremony, the wedding party moved to the shoreline for portraits. Rocky coast, fall color, salt air — the kind of backdrop that only Maine can offer in October. There was a lot of laughing.
Harbor Light at Golden Hour
The cocktail hour unfolded on the lawn while Kaitlyn and Darren slipped away for portraits. The Kennebunkport lighthouse, the flower beds in bloom, the harbor beyond — everything aligned in the last hour of light. These are the images that stay with you.
A Maine Celebration
Inside the resort, the celebration carried all the warmth of the day that preceded it. The tables were dressed in dusty blues and coastal accents, and the room felt immediately like the right place to be. The first dance unfolded with real tenderness — and then the floor opened up, the speeches came, and the rest of the night moved easily from one moment to the next.
The parent dances, the toasts, the glow sticks that appeared somewhere around 9pm — by the end of the evening, the harbor lights were shimmering outside and nobody was ready to leave.
Kaitlyn and Darren's day reflected who they are — thoughtful, unhurried, and completely at ease with the people around them. From the private vows on the beach to the last dance inside the resort, every part of it felt chosen. That's the best kind of wedding day.
