A Gazebo on the Hill: Zachary & Hollie's Summer Wedding at The Lucerne Inn | Dedham, Maine
Zachary and Hollie were married on a hill above the lake, at a white gazebo with the mountains for a backdrop and a white tent waiting below. Dusty blue and navy, pearls on her shoes, a floral tie on him, and a cake topper of a groom trying to make a run for it. Spoiler: he did not get far.
The gown hung in a gilded mirror while pearl-strapped sandals and jewelry got their moment on the marble. Down the hall, Zachary worked the knot on a navy floral tie, and the groomsmen raised a round at the barrel table. Back on Hollie's side, bridesmaids in shades of blue handled the buttons, the earrings, and the necklace clasp.
No first look. Zachary waited at the gazebo with his hands clasped, and the first time he saw Hollie was coming down the hill on her dad's arm with the inn on the ridge behind them. Her dad handed her off with a kiss, the ceremony was short and to the point, and they walked back up the aisle with both arms in the air. Then a long hug with her dad in the birches.
Bridesmaids in every shade of blue, groomsmen in navy, a granite boulder that everyone took a turn on, and a flower girl in the middle of it all. The whole crew cheered the kiss from the sidelines and then closed ranks for the group shot.
We walked them across the lawn as the light went gold, into the field, and under the big pine at the edge of the woods. Her ring, his ring, a lot of looking at each other, and a lift-and-kiss that came out of nowhere and landed perfectly.
Under the tent, it was a Mr and Mrs sweetheart table, a seating chart with their names on it, and blue everywhere. A first dance in the last of the daylight, Hollie with her dad, Zachary with his mom, who brought the moves. A speech from the best man, a speech from the maid of honor, and a short thank you from the two of them. Then they slipped outside at dusk to cut the cake, just the two of them, before the tent lit up and the dance floor took over.
A gazebo on the hill, a long walk down on her dad's arm, a tent full of blue, and a groom who, for the record, stayed right where he was. Congratulations, Zachary and Hollie.
